Celebrate An Extra Chromosome!

This week we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day on March 21.

The heart of Culture of Life 1972 is our teams passion to pursue celebrating life at every step. The drive to create something beautiful for every life motivates our designers, buyers, artisans, bloggers and photographers whose careful hands and creative minds shape every piece of apparel and presentation. At COL1972 we celebrate not only this special day but every day those who are uniquely made by their creator and have immense worth.

“I am the man with Downs Syndrome, and my life is worth living!”

Many of us remember this incredibly moving Congressional speech from actor, special olympian, and advocate Frank Stephen a few years ago.

Many of us know someone who has Down Syndrome. Who live a beautiful, full life, and yet a shocking over 90% of these precious children are brutally killed each year.

"The abortion rate for fetuses diagnosed with Down syndrome tops ninety percent.” In Iceland, nearly every fetus with the condition is killed. CBS News reports that “the United States has an estimated termination rate for Down syndrome of 67 percent (1995-2011); in France it's 77 percent (2015); and Denmark, 98 percent (2015). The law in Iceland permits abortion after 16 weeks if the fetus has a deformity––and Down syndrome is included in this category.”

Here at Culture of Life Fashion, our tribe loves and embraces these children. We recognize that they have exponential potential and more compassion and happiness than most of us combined!

Frank explains, “we are an unusually powerful source of happiness: a Harvard-based study has discovered that people with Down Syndrome, as well as their parents and siblings, are happier than society at large.”

Why not celebrate by sending a Down Syndrome family member a COL tee or sweatshirt and tell them that you are thankful for their life! Or forward this article to a friend who you think would like to celebrate.
