Virtuous & Valued: Celebrating Proverbs 31 Mothers

Mothers play a crucial role in the lives of their children and husbands, providing love, guidance, and support. In today's world, the importance of mothers is often overlooked and undervalued causing many women to underestimate the significance of being a mother. The world tries to convince that being a wife and a mother is exhausting and prison-like. Reality is that married women with children statistically prove to be happier! This is no coincidence, as it aligns with Biblical principles. 

The Bible contains many verses that highlight the importance and special role of a mother. Proverbs 31 is an extremely popular passage that especially highlights the wisdom and uniqueness of a mother. Specifically, verses 26-27 praise a mother's wisdom and kindness, stating, "She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness." 

Motherhood has been excellently modeled in the Bible through various women. We learn the power of prayer through Hannah, strength and courage in Jochebed, and the importance of continued worship through Elizabeth. Each of these women also respected and served their husbands and raised their children to walk in the Lord. 

Every day, we should be very grateful for the mother that God has given us. Here at COL1972, we are especially blessed to have COL mom, Carla. Every day she models what a Biblical mother should be as she displays kindness, generosity, and sacrifice. Her great love and commitment to Christ makes putting her family first every day an easy task. 

Mothers hold a special place in the Bible, embodying virtues such as love, compassion, and strength. Their influence extends beyond their own families, shaping the future through their words and actions. It is easy to take these women for granted, which is why Mother's Day is a great day for us to express extra gratitude. Every day, we should honor and cherish the mothers in our lives, recognizing the profound impact they have on our spiritual and general well-being.
