Memorial Day: How to be the best hostess + have the best style.

What stands out at the best Memorial Day dinner parties and barbecues you've attended? It's the ambience, the fun and lots of red, white & blue. When it comes to being a fabulous host, it's about much more than food.

The first rule is to be there! Sound simple? Plan the evening well so that you are not working in the kitchen but rather able to greet your guests at the door. Ideally, introduce them to other guests and help lead conversation. Give them a quick tour of your home, "Bathroom is here," "Grill is outside," and "Drinks are in the dining room." Perhaps do lawn games or activities to allow guests to mingle. We have family and friends join our annual patriotic bike parade for the holiday! This is our COL1972 family - all the kids decorate their bikes at our barbecue and then parade along our small country road. Can you spot Vittoria, Bella and Gigi in the photo below with their cousins?

The second rule is that the hostess should stand out by wearing a pop of color and statement pieces! This is your barbecue or dinner party after all! Memorial Day events give the hostess the opportunity to thrive in a pretty red dress accented with pearl earrings. Perhaps blue is your color! Get into the spirit of this patriotic holiday. Casual? Grab one of our patriotic tees and pair it with our jean shorts. Shop Memorial Day but similar styles can be worn for 4th of July events also. Be sure to provide backdrops for photos such as American flags for photo ops! This is pre-COL when Vittoria, Bella and Gigi were just in middle school.

Add a touch of life with our white pearls or any of our 1972 necklaces and pins for all the holiday festivities not just Memorial Day.

Lastly, whether inside or outside, candles are an inexpensive way to add ambience and elegance.

Enjoy being the hostess with the mostess at this years Memorial Day party and secure your guests happiness for your event!
