Fashion: A Battleground in the Fight for Life
What do we do when abortion is glamorized, praised, and made to be a status statement? This could not be more prevalent than it is in the fashion industry, and here at Culture of Life Fashion we must counteract it.
A few days ago, we were made aware of a bold, vintage (and very expensive!) sweater that had been created. Not surprisingly, the bolded letters on the sweater said, “1973.” What does 1973 stand for? 1973 stands for the year the Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade and America changed from having a Culture of Life to a culture where the killing of unborn in the thousands each day was legal. 1973 is a year that symbolizes the glamorization of abortion, and American actress Kate Walsh is choosing to glorify it.
I think it’s important to take a step back and realize why this is such an enormous blow and attack on the culture of life. Some people might brush off fashion statements, they might say that they aren’t important or influential enough to truly make an impact on a person’s beliefs, but just look around you: they are wrong! Millions of fashion dollars are being donated annually to the abortion industry through the purchase of sneakers, tees, sweaters (like the one shown here), bras, and dresses... and the list goes on! Be careful where you shop as your dollars may be directly funding the abortion industry.
No one takes fashion more seriously than teens and young girls in their 20’s: which is exactly the demographic Planned Parenthood targets. Coincidence? I think not. Well, if the fashion industry is going to target their supporters with lies and cover-ups, we are going to tell the truth. What is the truth? That 1972 being the last year that we enjoyed a Culture of Life in the USA is glamorous, empowering and righteous...not 1973.
